Saturday night 7.30, prebooked party of 9, out for a family meal. On entering we were eyed with suspiciously. I made friendly chat and we were shown to our table. I like that it is a proper traditional old village pub, not been modernised and ruined like so many. Waited half an hour to be offered a drink, so we were ready to order food too. Sadly no pizzas at all on our night, kids are bit sad but alternative chosen. Drinks arrive soon after, which boded well. Another table of dinners arrive. I notice a faint smell of stale urine, but decide not to mention it to my family. Then my brother in law ask if i can smell that too. While waiting an hour for starters we see the other table (who arrived after us,) food arrive, eat, pay and leave. We are then told... "sorry there might be a wait as there is only one chef on and he's really stressed out". So it took 2hrs for food to arrive. Pork belly was one thin slice with over cooked carrots and under cooked potatoes. Fish was fair, bugers looked okay. We ordered more drinks but some were forgotten. The main guy behind the bar made us feel we were asking for too much by reminding him he had forgotten our drinks. It was too late for deserts by the time we were done. Younger waiter apologised at the end and took 20% off the bill which was kind, but not the experience we had wanted. First and last dinning experience at the crown.

Booked a meal, sat in the public bar right in the sun, was told didn't have big tables in the restaurant, when we had been before there was 7 of us and we sat in the restaurant. No kids meals, left very disappointed.

The food is really good however the beds leave a lot to be desired. My mattress was bowed in the middle a sure sign that the owners put profit over comfort and returning customers. It was so bad I had to sleep sat up leaning against the wall, like John Merrick. I'll never stop there again. Perhaps this is what the owners want, maybe there's not enough profit in returning customers who buy drinks and food!!?? Rooms: Smaller than a budgies cage.

This pub has not been 'improved' too much so I still felt I was staying in a village pub. My room being quaint - and the building being thatched and the garden not being manicured - only reinforced that feeling. The staff were unremittingly kind and eager to help. The food was good value and care was taken that I could follow my special diet. Steve also gave me the number of a local taxi firm Elm. They too were delightful and were absolutely punctual all four times I used them. I shall bring my bike and stay longer next time.

We stayed two nights, the pub location is great for an easy drive to Wroxham and Cromer. Our room though was very small and it hadn't been cleaned very well, lots of marks on the mirrors, showers screen, window sill and bedside table. Not what you'd expect to find, especially as it came off with a wipe. The toilet wasn't great, noisy and had to be flushed numerous times. However, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good, especially the mushrooms, compliments to the chef. We personally wouldn't stay again but maybe we were just unlucky with our room and the cleanliness.

Menu gives impression food will be usual chain pub fare, then this gorgeous pork belly with sage crumb arrived. Seriously impressive chef skills. Beer was good, and bar staff very friendly. Rooms: Rooms are very basic, but super cheap, so you get what you pay for. I was happy.

We had a lovely stay here in The Crown at Smallburgh. It is such a lovely pub. We couldn’t fault it. The staff, food and rooms were great. We met quite a few of you including the manager the bar staff, man with the glasses, two chefs for breakfast and evening meal, Rivo, Elaine and Joe. Thank you to all.

We went for Mothers Day lunch. We got in on a late booking and were pleased we did. Food was lovely, and there was plenty of it. The roast lamb was very good. Staff were friendly, polite and efficient, considering it was a busy Sunday. Good choice of ales too.

We did not stay at this pub ,but had a meal , the service was good and the staff were very welcoming, the starters were ok but I think they had been very busy in the day and the main meals were abysmal,4 of our party had pizza ,3 were so overcooked that they couldn't be eaten and one was still actual dough , the other 2 meals were also quite overcooked. The problem was sorted in the price by the manager .
